Foundation Matches Athletes' Fundraising

The Shawnee Community College baseball and softball teams recently finished their fundraising efforts for the semester. Because they did so well, the SCC Foundation donated $2000 to each team to match their fundraising efforts.

The softball team sold BBQ sandwiches at the Fort Massac Encampment. The baseball team solicited individual donations. All athletic teams at SCC have the opportunity to receive matching funds from the Foundation, up to $2000 per academic year.

"It encourages the ball players to raise money for their programs, and gives the college visibility in the community," Foundation Director Jeff Wiggs said.

The first home game for softball will be March 1 against John A. Logan, and March 2 for baseball against Kaskaskia.
