Meth Busters Workshop Feb. 2

Methamphetamine use in Southern Illinois and the surrounding area is rising at a phenomenal rate. Shawnee Community College invites you to attend an informational workshop on the use and abuse of methamphetamine in our area. This workshop will take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2, at Shawnee Community College, in Ullin, IL.

Parents, teachers, school administrators, counselors, youth group leaders and concerned citizens are invited to attend. The presenter is Dean Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton has been in law enforcement for 18 years. For the past 10 years he has worked as an undercover drug agent for the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force. He has been involved in hundreds of methamphetamine cases. He has testified in court as an expert witness numerous times. Mr. Hamilton has taught hundreds of classes on the manufacturing of methamphetamine to state-wide Law Enforcement groups in Illinois and Kentucky, along with fire departments and EMS services. He has been helpful in making school officials aware of the signs to watch for, and the effects of methamphetamine use on today's youth.
This workshop is free to attend, with three C.P.D.U.'s available for school employees. Pre-registration is highly encouraged. To register, call Sharon Walker at Shawnee Community College at 1-800-481-2242, ext. 3235.
