John A. Logan Too Much For Shawnee
96-65
John
A. Logan and Shawnee faced off Thursday night with two of the best records
in southern Illinois. John A. Logan came out and scored first, but Shawnee
answered quickly with a 3pt. basket from Darius Lewis. The Volunteers continued
their flawless shooting and passing while the Saints were a step slow. "They
shot the lights out the first half and we just didn't compete," Coach
John Sparks said.
John A. Logan led 52-34 at the half. The Saints got
the lead under twenty, but the Volunteers quickly turned the Saints rally
away. Torres led the Saints at the half with ten points and poured in another
thirteen in the second half, but it wasn't enough. John A. Logan's Batteast,
Miller and Davis combined for 54 points. "Those guys just got it done
tonight. I am very disappointed with our effort. There is no excuse. We
have to consistently play harder," Sparks said.
John A. Logan moves to 5-1 and Shawnee drops to 3-1
on the season. The Saints will travel to St. Louis to face Forest Park on
Saturday at 3:00pm. They return home on November 29 to face Rend Lake @
7:00pm.
