Volleyball Team Finishes 24th in Nation

After losing to the #1 seed Illinois Central, Shawnee Community College came back and fought themselves into the Region 24 semi-finals with a victory over #16 Lincoln Land. Shawnee defeated Lincoln Land 25-30, 37-35, 31-29, and 30-26, to advance into the semifinals against Parkland. Parkland, the #2 seed, defeated SCC and advanced to the championship vs. Illinois Central. The Saints were 35-17 for the season and went 20-3 in October with a win over #10 Kankakee who at the time was 46-1.

The Lady Saints placed three players on the All-Region team. Vanessa Beyers was named to the first team and has been nominated by Region 24 for All-American honors. La Keita Jones was named to the second team while Angie Clark received honorable mention. Vanessa Beyers led the Lady Saints at the Region 24 tournament with 37 kills, La Keita Jones had 24 kills, Kacie Cartwright had 22 kills, Angie Clark had 21 kills, and Taylor Lampley had 19 kills. Jones also added 21 blocks and finished #1 in the nation in blocks.
