Saints Over Power the Norsemen in Season Opener

The SCC Men's Basketball team hosted Florissant Valley on Saturday, November 5th in the Saint's season opener. The Saints came out early and took the lead 4-0 and never looked back. Shawnee's pressure defense forced Florissant Valley into several turnovers early as the game stayed close throughout the first half. Sparked by Chad Bernard's ten points in the first half Shawnee pulled in front 42-32 at the break. "We played a little careless in the first half. We did not take care of the basketball as well as I would have liked, but we played hard and did some good things defensively," Coach Sparks commented.

Coach John Sparks and his Saints opened the second half with a defensive stop and big time slam from Chad Bernard. The crowd was pumped as Saints increased their lead to sixteen. Freshmen, Chad Bernard & Darius Lewis lead the Saints in scoring combining for 33 points. Williams had great game also with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assist, and 8 steals. "We are glad to get this decisive victory against an opponent of Florissant Valley caliber," Coach Sparks commented.
The Saints are at home on the November 8th vs. Lindenwood JV at 7 p.m. and on the road November 10th at Rend Lake College at 7 p.m.
