Lady Saints Basketball Team Signs Ariel Johnson
The Shawnee Community College Saints Women's Basketball team signs guard/forward Ariel Johnson to a National Letter of Intent for the 2015-2016 team. Ariel previously attended Walters St. Community College and graduated high school from Todd County Central High School in Elkton, KY. She is the daughter of Natasha and Brian Blake.
Koree was a four-year varsity starter for Todd County Central that saw great success over her four-year career. To just name a few of her many honors, Ariel scored over a 1000 points in her high school career. Ariel was named 13th District All District Team, 4th Region All Tournament Team, a Kentucky New Era All-Star Team Member, and a 4th Region All Region Team. For her senior year Ariel averaged 17.2 points per a game. Ariel then chose to attend Walters St. CC in Morrisonville, TN. While at Walters St. the team was 32-0 heading into Nationals where they suffered their only loss of the season. Ariel averaged 2.4ppg at Walters St.
New women's basketball coach, Luke Scheidecker, said, "Ariel is someone I have great expectations for. She is very versatile at 5'11" where she can play outside and inside. Ariel will present mismatch problems because of her skill, athleticism and size. Ariel was highly recruited out of high school and has been at one of the more successful junior college programs in the nation. I expect her to help set a winning culture here at Shawnee."
