PTK Project Graduation
4/27/06
The Alpha Lambda
Epsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Shawnee Community College
is participating in Project Graduation
Feed a Body, Feed a Mind, an
initiative designed to help alleviate hunger and illiteracy in our community.
Graduating students and their guests are asked to bring non-perishable food
items or books to the college graduation ceremony Friday, May 12, 2006 at
7 p.m. The donation drop-off site will be at the gym entrance. After the graduation
ceremony, the books and canned goods will be given to local food banks and
local elementary schools.
"Such
a simple gesture of bringing a canned good or book to our commencement ceremony
will help improve the quality of life in our community," said Dr. Larry
Choate, College President. "We are excited to have this opportunity."
"As student leaders within our college, we are pleased to be at the helm
of this new initiative," said PTK chapter president Amber Holman. "We
are proud to give graduating students an opportunity to give back to the community
that has supported them throughout their community college experience."
