Shawnee Community College presents the SCC Chamber Singers in "Garland's Revenge." The 2010 SCC Madrigal performance will be on Friday and Saturday, December 3rd and 4th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The audience is to gather in the main campus atrium and will be escorted to the dining hall by royal trumpeters.
The SCC cafeteria will be transformed once again to the kingdom of Chelsea, where nearly five hundred years ago the kingdom was ruled by the powerful, yet fair-minded King Anthony and his beautiful and eloquent queen, Dorothy. Chelsea was a peaceful land, filled with fun loving people who held joyous celebrations with their kinsmen and the surrounding noblemen.
This year's madrigal story finds Garland the friendly wizard of Chelsea growing tired and bored with life and his responsibilities around the kingdom and decides to have a little fun at the expense and dignity of the Royal Court. Charity Frizzell of Grand Chain has penned the saga of Chelsea for many years.
So enjoy an evening of feasting and merriment in 17th Century style. The madrigal features a lively performance and dinner. Dinner and show are $25 with advanced tickets only.
Tickets are on sale now. For reservations or information, contact Lisa Root-Bosecker at 618-634-3250.
