SCC Foundation Golf Tournament a Success

Twenty-seven teams joined the Shawnee Community College Foundation at the Gambit Golf Course in Vienna in June for the Annual Foundation Golf scholarship fundraiser. Proceeds from the event fund scholarships for traditional and non-traditional students from throughout our district.

The team sponsored by SIU president Glenn Poshard placed 1st in flight B and SCC athletic director Mike Fitzgerald's team placed 1st in flight B. Jim Hadley earned closest to the pin top honors at hole #1 and David Hearn walked away with the same honor for hole #14. David Neally won for the longest putt and Nick Sadler won for the longest drive. Martha Martinko also took honors for the longest drive on hole #2.

Olmsted Bank and Cache River Chevy sponsored a $25,000 hole in one contest.

This year's hold sponsors included: Patrick Windhorst; Dr. Jack Hill; Greg & Peggy Legan; Roy "Buddy" Walls; Dr. Raymond C. Otte; Dr. Larry Choate; John Kreuter; Dale Bishop; Capaha Bank; Bob Armour; Sharon Walker; Johnson & Schneider; Anna-Jonesboro National Bank; Electric Energy; Inc., IBEW; Image Architects; Laborers International Union of North America Local Union 773; Lawrence & Bean; Southern Trust Bank; Darryl Clark; Beussink, Hey & Roe, PC; and City National Bank of Metropolis.

The Youth Outdoor Education Foundation provided the noon meal for the event. The Carterville foundation supports conversation of natural resources and sponsors free fishing days and hunter safety training for area youth.
