Shawnee Community College automotive technology instructor Clyde Shafer and several SCC students attended the Chicago Auto Show 2010 earlier this month. The show is the nation's largest auto show, held in the McCormick Place complex.

Shawnee Community College Keeps Looking UpWhen it comes to student enrollment, Shawnee Community College keeps looking up. The college announced today that its spring semester numbers rose slightly higher than 14 percent.
The spring semester climb follows a fall semester jump that was the fourth largest in the state at 21 percent. And all of this is being accomplished in the poorest and most rural community college district in the state.

SCC Students Participate in Accounting Challenge
Several Shawnee Community College students participated in the SIU Accounting Challenge in February. Students were tested on their knowledge of basic and advanced accounting principles. Shawnee Community College sophomore Brandon McElmurry from Pulaski won 1st place and was awarded a $500 SIU scholarship.

Shawnee College Host Venue for SIU's 32nd Annual Big Muddy Film Festival
Shawnee Community College will be one of many host venues for Southern Illinois University’s 32nd Annual "Big Muddy Film Festival." A film/photography workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 24 at 6:00-9:00 PM, as well as a series of independent films on Saturday, February 27 at 8:00-11:00 AM. Both the workshop and screening will be held in the Educational Center on SCC’s main campus in Ullin, IL.

Homecoming Set for February 27th
Shawnee Community College welcomes alumni and community members to Homecoming 2010 on Saturday, February 27th. The Lady Saints host Spoon River College at 2 p.m. Following the women’s game, the Saints take the floor at 4 p.m. The homecoming dance will follow the men's game in the Cafeteria.
