SCC Hosts School Supply Drive
SCC students Alisha Daily of Ozark and Ethan May of Metropolis assisted other members of the Future Teachers Organization as they sorted school supply donations during the annual school supply drive.
This fall marked the 5th school supply drive for the FTO. In the past school supplies have been delivered to 13 area schools.
Members of the organization collected supplies from students, faculty, and staff.
"Hard economic times leave many children that return to school lacking the supplies they need to succeed," said Sharon Walker, education instructor at SCC and faculty sponsor of the FTO. "This is just one of the things we do to help promote education."
SCC had a great response this year from donors and exceeded the number of schools that were served last year.

Aviation Technology Program Underway at Shawnee College
Massac County students Chevy Burnham and Bobby Worley are among the first class of students seeking the new Shawnee Community College associate of applied science degree in Aviation Science. Eleven students from across the area are enrolled in the program.
