SCC Softball Signs Two Scott City Recruits

Emily Essner and Becky Holder, both of Scott City, MO have signed letters of intent to play softball at Shawnee Community College in Ullin, IL.
Emily is an All-Conference selection pitcher and the daughter of Danny and Jill Essner. Emily carried a .256 batting average and a 3.68 ERA while going 9-14 for the Lady Rams. In addition to softball, Emily was a class officer and participated in basketball, NHS, Student Council, FCCLA, FBLA, FTA and Pep Club. Emily hopes to pursue a degree in Business Management and Finance.
Becky is an All-Region selection outfielder. She is the daughter of Terry and Sandy Holder and Tami Holder. Becky batted and impressive .430 average and contributed 11 RBI. In addition to softball, Becky participated in basketball, track, FCCLA FTA, FBLA, pep club, student council and NHS. Becky plans to pursue a career in the medical field.
"Both girls are solid performers on the softball field" Coach Palmer said. "They each add different elements to the game. Emily is a very hard worker and has improved steadily since we began watching her last year. She should come in and be able to contribute and provide depth to the rotation. Becky is a speedster. She moves effortlessly on the bases as well as in the outfield when tracking a ball. She will provide much needed speed and defense to our line-up. I am really excited that both of these young ladies decided to join us at Shawnee."
