Anderson Scores 44, But Saints Fall Short @ Lincoln College
1/16/07
Shawnee 102 @ Lincoln College 122
Lincoln College came out of the gate on fire leading the Saints by as much as thirty-two points mid way through the first half. Lincoln was led by Darnell Lindsey’s 17 points in the first half. The Saints went into the half down 32 to 63. "It looked awful tough after the 1st half. We encouraged our kids to dig down and just fight the entire 20 minutes in the 2nd half. Play as hard as you can possibly play and we will just sub in and sub out." Coach Sparks commented. The Saints were led by freshman Brandon Anderson who scored 19 of his career high 44 points in the first half.
The Saints full court pressure and fast break offense was in rare form as they went on to score 70 points in the second half. Anderson scored 27 points in the second half while Jonathan Griffin came to life scoring 18 of his 20 points down the stretch. With two minutes left in regulation the Saint were only down 11 points after Anderson connected on his six three point field goal of the game. As the saints fouled and continued to scramble for steals the Lincoln Lynx’s knock down their free-throws to close out the Saints of Shawnee College.
"These guys (Lincoln) are a really good team. As we continue to learn and improve I sincerely believe that we can make a legitimate run at the end of the year. Obviously we have to get healthy, but these guys are getting it figured out and that is very encouraging. We are still without Sylvester Sipp and Devon Irven played limited minutes. These guys give us added depth that allows us to really play the way we want to play." Coach Sparks commented.
