Shawnee 67 @ Lindenwood JV 64
Shawnee took on Lindenwood JV Sunday afternoon after tough conference game against Parkland College. The Saints started five freshmen for the first time this season. Devon Irven, sidelined with a lower back injury, hopes to return to action on Wednesday evening.
Shawnee came out and established their inside game early going to Brandon Allen early and often. Allen was a force in the paint and on the glass. The Saints play was up and down throughout the entire first half, but they managed to hold on to a 40-39 lead at the break. "We were very fortunate to be up. We were careless with the basketball and we did not value each possession." Coach Sparks Commented.
At the beginning of the second half Shawnee came out with a new attitude. The Saints were causing havoc defensively which led to break away lay-ups and dunks. TJ Burnett had all eight of his assist in the second half and really got his team mates involved in the action. The Saints went on a 15-0 run and it was all but over.
The Saints had ten players make it into the scoring column. Johnny Williams and TJ Burnett combined for thirty-three of the Saints ninety-nine points. The Saints record moves to 9-6 overall and 6-1 at home.
