Shawnee Defeats Conference Foe Parkland
1/05/07
Shawnee 56 @ Meremac 70
Parkland took an early lead 4-0 before Coach Sparks burned his first time. The Saints came out and turned it up offensively and locked up on the defensive end. The Saints led 34-18 at the half and looked as if the Saints were going to cruise past the Parkland Cobras.
In the second half Parkland turned up the pressure defensively and forced Shawnee in to several turnovers. Parkland was led by Antonio Lofton who led all scores with 31 points. The Saints Brandon Anderson scored twelve first half points before he was injured and forced to leave the game. "It seemed like our kids were dropping like flies out there. We had three or four kids suffer injuries during the game." Coach Sparks commented.
Parkland eventually regained the lead and went up 54-50. The Saints recovered with a great surge from their bench and regained the lead and eventually closed the door on the Cobras in the final seconds of the game.
COACH SPARKS COMMENTS
"We played good for a half and played poorly the other half. Parkland really fought hard in the second half and we were fortunate enough to hold on for the win."
