DATE: 1/25/08
Krista Hoover of Marion has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Shawnee Community College. Krista is a pitcher who had a 2.6 ERA last spring for the Wildcats and compiled a .341 batting average proving she could field her position as well by carrying a .913 fielding percentage. During the summer, Krista competed with the Dirt Dawgs and an impressive 1.63 ERA and a batting average of .310.
In addition to softball Krista participated in Student Council, Spanish Club and HOSA while at Marion High School. Krista hopes to pursue a degree in Education and possibly pursue coaching one day as well.
"Krista is the type of athlete we look for at Shawnee, she is versatile and will be used not only as a pitcher but a possible DH," SCC Coach Kim Palmer said. "She has experience of competing in a strong program at Marion High School and playing with the Dirt Dawgs in the summer as well. I feel she will bring experience and provide leadership to our pitching staff. I am confident Krista can and will come in and contribute from day one."
