Library Instruction Classes
The SCC Library offers a variety of instruction opportunities for classes and individuals.
Instructors can request customized instruction sessions designed to introduce classes to library research. Instruction can be provided in the classroom or the library. Programs can be basic library orientations, generalized introductions to library resources, or may be focused on certain research skills or certain resources, such as a specific database.
The library’s computer lab, with 20 computers, can be reserved by instructors to give students hands-on work with electronic resources, including the online catalog, full-text periodical databases, and web resources. The lab must be reserved in advance; please contact Tracey Johnson, librarian, at Traceyj@shawneecc.edu; or Karen Houston, karenhlibrary clerk, at Karenh@shawneecc.edu, or call the library at extension 3271 to reserve the lab.
For programs in the classroom, contact Tracey Johnson to set program goals and schedule a time.
Customized bibliographies can be compiled for specific topics or to accompany specific classroom assignments; contact the library staff to place a request.
