Educational and Professional History
Susan Woolridge received her BA, in 1995 from Michigan State, in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy, with a double major in English.
In 1996 Susan received her MA in Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama from University College Dublin, in Ireland.
Susan started her teaching as a graduate student working on her PhD at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 1999. The focus of her graduate work was twentieth century American literature with minors in British Literature and Drama.
Susan taught Developmental Writing, Composition I & II, and Advanced Composition at SIUC. Susan also tutored undergraduate and graduate students, in writing, in SIUC's three writing centers.
Her first full-time teaching appointment was at Henderson Community College in Henderson, Kentucky in 2003. There, Susan taught Developmental Writing, and Composition I & II.
Susan left Henderson for an appointment at Shawnee College in the spring of 2004. In her time at Shawnee, Susan has taught Developmental Reading, Composition I & II, Modern Fiction, British Literature II, Introduction to Drama, Multicultural Literature, and Introduction to Philosophy. In the summer, Susan teaches online courses.
In fall 2008, Susan will introduce a new English Special Topics course on the graphic novel.
