Ryan has taught at Shawnee Community College from 1995-2002 and in 2003 before accepting a full-time position in the Fall of 2008. He has also taught for Southeast Missouri State University and for Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
While at Shawnee, Ryan has taught Developmental Reading, Developmental Writing, Composition I and II, Technical Writing, Introduction to Speech, Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Public Speaking, World Literature, and American Literature I and II.
As a writer, Ryan has published poems, short fiction, book reviews, and nonfiction. His work has been featured in publications such as Grit, ComputerEdge Magazine, The Literary Journal, Midwest Poetry Review, and The Student. He has written online columns for www.sharpman.com website. In 2005, Ryan published a chapbook, "Prince Ripper and the Royal Family."
Ryan lives with his family in Cape Girardeau, MO. He enjoys going to auctions, collecting baseball cards, and spending time outside.
