SCC Offers New CAD/Surveying Program

Shawnee Community College is pleased to offer two new certificate programs starting September 2015. The two new certificates fields are identified as having a 10-20% job growth by the Department of Labor during 2012-2020. Both certificates will allow students to go directly into the workforce, build on current job skills, and/or transfer to a two or four year degree in their respective field of interest. More..

Cosmetology Hair Show FlyerAuditions for SCC's Production of The Wizard of Oz

Auditions for SCC's Fall Theater Production of The Wizard of Oz will be held August 28 from 2pm-6pm and August 29 from 9am - 12pm. Auditions will take place in the Educational Center on the Main Campus and are open to anyone age 8 and older. Please see the attached flyer for more information and print out to hang up somewhere. We could always use help with advertising!

(Ullin, Illinois) - The Shawnee Community College Cosmetology Department will be hosting their Annual Hair Seminar on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.  This year’s seminar is featuring SCRUPLES.

Shawnee Community College along with some of the area high schools including, Vienna High School, Meridian High School, Cobden High School, and Dongola High School have seen tremendous achievements made with high school seniors graduating with dual degrees in the Dual Credit program at SCC.

Shawnee Regional Economic Alliance met on May 13, 2015, to discuss the results of a recently completed business survey. The survey was conducted to set a framework in identifying needed economic development, transportation infrastructure, workforce training, and public policy/incentives as well as other critical business challenges, such as Internet connectivity.

SCC's Nursing Program Reaches Big Accomplishment
Shawnee Community College's Nursing program reached two more great accomplishments in 2014. The LPN program achieved a pass rate of 97% for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) in 2014 compared to the IL pass rate of 86% and the National pass rate of 82%.
Saints ReadSaints Read Celebration 2015
On Saturday, February 28th, the 8th Annual Saints Read Celebration event was held at Shawnee Community College. 144 children from 14 area schools complete the program, which asks students to log books and meet reading goals appropriate for their grade. SCC’s Future Teacher Organization and SCC Athletics sponsor the program. The group read a total of 3,016 books.
