Introduction to Accounting

ONE YEAR CERTIFICATE

 

The Introduction to Accounting one-year certificate program is designed to provide entry level skills for the person seeking work as a payroll clerk or in a general office with some minor accounting responsibilities.  This program is also especially valuable for the person exploring the educational field of accounting since it includes eight hours of transferable accounting principles courses.

The Coursework

 

ACC 111 Financial Accounting

Accounting is presented as an information system that produces basic financial statements primarily for external business constituents.

 

ACC 112 Managerial Accounting

Planning, controlling and evaluating the performance of separate business components are emphasized through the identification, accumulation and interpretation of data.

 

ACC 121 Payroll Accounting

Calculation of earnings via a variety of methods and computation of employee taxes are covered and the course concludes with a payroll simulation.

 

ACC 219 Quickbooks

Introduces the student to an accounting software package intended for the small business owner.
