Processing Management ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE Information
Processing involves coordinating people, equipment, and procedures to organize
information in a meaningful way within an organization. Information Processing has become a common term
referring to the electronic processing of various categories of information.
The program seeks to prepare the individual for employment in the workplace as
a processor of information using automated/electronic technology. This is a TECH PREP and 2+2 program that transfers into
the Information Management Systems program at SIU-C. For More Information

111 Business Computer Systems Business computer packages including word processing,
database management, spreadsheet, presentation software, and Internet access. COM
161 Intro to Command Prompt DOS Introduction to
the command line utility used to manage files such as: copying files, moving
files, deleting files and renaming files.

168 Introduction to Desktop Hands-on experience with the professional desktop publishing program, Adobe
PageMaker to format documents, manipulate graphics, text, and drawn
objects to create publications.
COM 261 Advanced Command Prompt DOS Using the command line utility to create high-end batch
files to be used to expedite the configuration settings of a microcomputer
system. COM 225 Systems Analysis Systems analysis and design, including system life cycle, analytical
tools and methods including CASE tools, file and record layouts, software and
hardware selection, and the stages of data processing system design. COM 227 Database Management Database
theory and usage as well as using the module capabilities of Microsoft Access. COM

management focusing on the four functions of planning, organizing, leading, and

principles and methods. Integration of economic theories and accounting; financial analysis
and management; and financial markets-stocks, bonds, and other securities.

an introduction to law: nature, function, and classification, and a general
understanding of the reasons for some of our laws governing businesses and
people involved in business-related activities.
BUS 215 Legal & Social Environment of Business The
significant phases of law dealing with partnerships, corporations,
unincorporated associations, and related topics. Business ethics
