SAINTS 2013 RECRUITS:
The SAINTS have added to last year's outstanding freshmen class with several additions for the 2013-14 season. Of ten commitments, seven earned Arkansas All-State honors and four were selected to play in their respective state All-Star game. With five returnees from last year and two red-shirts the SAINTS look to be very competitive in Region 24 play this season.
Devin Thornton, 6'5" forward from Memphis, TN (Germantown)
Devin played at Germantown high school where he was All-Academic, All-Regional and All-District averaging 14.1 points and 11.2 rebounds and 3.1 assist per game. Coached by Marvin Davis, he helped lead his team to a 22-9 record in a highly competitive region.
Julius Barton, 6'10" forward from West Memphis, AR (West Memphis)
Julius was sidelined last season with a medical red-shirt, but has fully recovered and will be looked upon to fill the huge void left in the SAINTS front court. With the departure of Tony Jeffries and 1st team All-Region performer Ryan Donald, Julius will be expected to play major minutes.
Tim Sanders, 6'1" guard from Atlanta, GA (Wheeler)
Tim transferred into Wheeler high school from Germantown (TN) he was only allowed to play the 2nd half of the season. He played an instrumental role on a heavily talented team at Wheeler. He averaged 15 points 3 assist and 3 steals per game and was named to the All-Defensive team. He helped his team to a 21-9 record.
Justin Leon, 6'7" forward from Conway, AR (Conway)
Justin was a dominant force in the paint for Conway HS last season and one of the most explosive athletes in the state of Arkansas. He earned 7A All-Conference and All-State honors averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds per game for Coach James Bates. He was also selected to play in Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game at the University of Central Arkansas' Farris Center.
Ben Kissing, 6'5" forward from Crab Orchard, IL (Crab Orchard)
Ben was the top player in southern Illinois 2012-13 scoring over 2300 points in his high school career. He averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds per game leading his team to a 30-3 record his senior season. Ben received numerous accolades including All-State, All-Conference, Conference MVP, All-South, National Guard Scholar Athlete and Southern Illinois Player of the year.
Richard Razor, 6'2" guard from Gosnell, AR (Gosnell)
Richard was a major piece of Gosnell's success averaging 15 points and 11 rebounds per game. He also pulled down 16 double doubles to help led the Pirates to a 24-7 record. Richard was one of Gosnell's 2nd leading scorer, top rebounder and their best defender. He was also an All-Conference and All-State nominee. He helped led the 4A Pirates to a record of 24-7.
Marque McCuller, 5'10" guard from Jackson, TN (Northside)
Transferring from Austin Peay, Marque was key in helping Northside High School to a 24-8 record during his junior campaign. During his senior year Marque was named All-Regional and All-District averaging 18 points and 6 assist per game. He was coached by Tony Brown at Northside High School.
Jaylin Dyson, 6'4" forward from Covington, TN (Covington)
Jaylin averaged 9 points and 8 rebounds per game for Deon Real at Covington High School. He was an All-Conference performer and selected to the West TN All-Star team. Coach Real on Jaylin; He was a great rebounder, extremely hard worker and tough defender. His best basketball is head of him.
Delontrey Haney, 6'5" forward from Howardville, MO (New Madrid County Central)
Trey averaged 10.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game shooting over 55% from the field for Travis Day at New Madrid County Central. They finished with a record of 18-8 and Trey played a key role for New Madrid County who lost in the district championship to power house Charleston. Coach Day on Trey; He has a tremendous upside and has unlimited potential.
Jerome Scott, 6'6" forward from Memphis, TN (Manassas)
Jerome, a two year starter, helped lead his team to a record of 18-9 in 2012-2013 season. He averaged 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. He was part of district championship teams three out of his four years at Manassas. He was also an All-District performer as a senior. Coach Gerald Harris comments regarding Jerome: "He is one the most improved players this season and was very coachable and has a great potential to continue to do well."
Armondo Thatch, 6'0" guard from Howardville, MO (New Madrid County Central)
Armondo averaged 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assist per game at New Madrid County Central. Starting in the backcourt at New Madrid Armondo stuffed the stats on a nightly basis, but was really one ther key defensive stoppers. Coach Day on Trey; Armondo has a great body for the point guard position has the capability to become a really good college player,
