Shawnee Knocks Off Lake Land
11/16/06
DATE: November 16, 2006
LOCATION: Carterville, IL
TEAMS: Shawnee 72 @ Lakeland 62
The Saints traveled to Lake Land and started the game with an unusual line-up. The Saints started with only Forwards and Centers. With this unusual line-up the Saints were a little out of sync offensively, but kept it close with their defense. “We have to be accountable. We had some guys that were late so we had to discipline them. The guys that started really stepped up.” Coach Sparks commented.
The Saints were down 32 - 26 at the half, but were able to come out the second half and play well enough to win. Phillips, Guyton and Akajiobi played big in the second half. "Nate (Phillips) was big for us tonight. He made great decisions and really stepped his game up." Coach Sparks remarked. Jamie Guyton also turned in another solid performance putting in 13 points with two monster dunks down the stretch. Coach Sparks on Guyton; "Jamie is one of our most consistent performers. He gets better every night out." Peter (Akajiobi) really dominated the glass with another double figure rebound performance with three blocked shots.
The Saints face Rend Lake on Tuesday, November 21th at Ina, IL with a 7:30 tip-off.
