U.S. Forest Service

The Master Trails Steward program is a joint effort of Shawnee Community College and the U.S. Forest Service - Shawnee National Forest to provide certificate level training for those individuals interested in the design, construction and maintenance of trails and trail systems in the Nation's forests and wilderness areas. This program provides the theoretical and technical background for trail development and construction, while equipping the student with hands-on experiences in group leadership, program planning and environmental education. Upon completion of the course work and the approved field project, students are eligible to receive "Master Trails Steward" designation from the U.S. Forest Service.
