This survey course is designed for the

It addresses the various types of mass communication and their impact on
society through the evolution of their earliest, most “primitive” forms to the electronic
forms of today. The primary focus will
be exploring how media
messages affect our culture. Students

JOU 220 INTRODUCTION
TO COPY EDITING
Spring
This introductory copy editing course focuses
on three primary areas: proofreading text, writing headlines, and arranging
layout copy. The student will practice
editing skills and contribute to the student publication, The Tempo. Not only will the
course demonstrate the importance of correct AP style, grammar, and mechanics,
but it will also focus on news judgment.
