Shawnee College is dedicated to providing educational opportunities
to all members of the community. Residents interested in continuing their education
without seeking a college degree can enroll in the following programs.
General Education Development (G.E.D.)
The Shawnee Community College GED Program offers assistance to
students in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the GED examination
for a high school equivalency diploma.
Alternative High School
Program
The purpose and objective of the Alternative High School Program
is to provide a program of education which meets the needs of the students
within the district.
Community Education
The Shawnee Community College Community Education Program is dedicated
to the philosophy of promoting lifelong learning. Classes are offered to assist
individuals to take advantage of leisure time, improve mental and/or physical
fitness and learn a new skill.
Literacy Program
Shawnee Community College is a participant in the Regional Literacy
Initiative. SCC's literacy program provides direct instruction and educational
opportunities to individuals, families and business organizations. The initiative
serves residents of all ages and educational background. Activities focus on
improving basic skills such as reading and writing, as well as promoting life
long learning through family education.
