Greetings from the SCC President

Welcome Visitors,

Shawnee Community College is your community college! Whether you are a new high school graduate or beginning a degree later in life we can help you meet your goals.
We offer one of the most affordable tuition rates in Illinois and the Midwest. Our classes are convenient - offered during the day or evening - and often in your hometown. We were one of the first colleges to offer classes on the Internet. You can take over 50 courses from the comfort of home. But most importantly, our staff and faculty care about your success. Our students rave about the personal attention our instructors and support staff gives to make college a positive experience.
The great thing about a community college is the flexibility it allows for students. You can take a single class, complete a certificate, finish an Associates Degree or enroll in a Bachelors degree program.
My challenge to you is to start reaching for your dreams now. We are ready to help you succeed. Call or come in to the main campus near Ullin or any of our extension centers located in Anna, Cairo, East St. Louis or Metropolis, Illinois. You can work on building your future at a pace you are comfortable with by taking one course or starting a degree program.
Many of our courses are fully transferable when you are ready to move on to a four-year college or university. Our educational alliance with Franklin University enables you to earn bachelor's degree without transferring to a new college. The College’s varied occupational programs can qualify you for immediate employment.
We also offer adult education classes to provide courses to upgrade reading, writing and mathematical skills, achieve a GED certificate or pursue a personal interest, such as starting up a small business. In fact the Small Business Development Center works with new and existing businesses to develop business plans, provide training and aid in seeking financial support.
Start fulfilling your dreams today with a quality education close to home! All of us at Shawnee Community College are here to help you prepare for a rapidly changing but exciting future.
We look forward to seeing you.
