Methods to accumulate points:

There are basically three things that you will do to earn credit for the course. They are (1) complete the homework assignments; (2) complete the mid-term and final exams; (3) complete the Term Paper Research Project.  A more detailed description of each requirement follows below.

1.      HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS: Six assignments at 30 points each equal 180 points and represent the greatest single contribution to your grade.  It is very important to complete them all and submit them on time.  Each homework assignment will cover specific videos and chapters.  If you hand carry assignments to me, it must be delivered to my office on campus before 4:30pm the afternoon of the due date.  If you mail your assignment, it must be postmarked no later than midnight on the due date.   The graded assignment will be mailed to you before the midterm and the final for your review and study for the exam. Be sure to keep them and use them as study aids.

IF YOUR ASSIGNMENT DOES NOT GET TO ME IN THE PROPER TIME LIMIT, THE ASSIGNMENT WILL BE WORTH 1/2 CREDIT.

2.      TERM PAPER RESEARCH PROJECT.  The project is worth a maximum of 120 points. Each student will complete a research project for the tele-course.  It will consist of writing a research paper dealing with a health-related topic.  The topic must be taken from the list provided in this packet or I must approve the topic in advance of writing the paper.  In either case, the student must research the topic and the student must use standard term-paper format in his/her writing.  The due date for the research project is Thursday August 1, 2002.  If you mail the project to me, it must be postmarked no later than midnight Thursday August 1, 2002.
