Surgical Technology ONE-YEAR CERTIFICATE The Surgical Technology certificate program is a
one-year program offered at the East St. Louis Higher Education Center by Courses to be
taken through ___STP 121 Introduction to Surgical Technology (3) ___STP 122 Principles and Practices of Surgical Technology
(6) ___STP 123 Surgical Procedures I (5) ___STP 124 Surgical Procedures II (3) ___STP 125 Clinical Rotation in Surgical Technology I (5) ___STP 126 Clinical Rotation in Surgical Technology II (5) ___STP 127 Pharmacology for Health Professions (3) Courses to be
taken through Southwestern at the ESLHEC: ___BIOL 155 Human Anatomy and Physiology I (5) Prerequisite: Minimum of
one semester of high school biology or
divisional approval. Completion of ENG
001/005 and MATH
094 Developmental Education requirements. ___BIOL 156 Human Anatomy and Physiology II (5) Prerequisite: BIOL 115 or
divisional approval. ___BIOL 250 Microbiology (4) Prerequisite:
BIOL 101 or 155 or divisional approval. Prerequisite to Entire Program: BIOL 155 prerequisite of ENG 001, ENG 005 and MATH 094 developmental education requirements. Course

Notes: Students must be certified in CPR before starting
clinical rotations. Retention in the ST program requires that the student
earn a grade of C or better in all course work. *BIOL 156 must be completed by the end of the second
